Elm Street Program - Facade Improvements
Monday, September 21, 2009NKCDC is working with homeowners who are interested in façade and streetscape improvements outside their homes. Through the Elm Street Program, homeowners can receive funds for up to 75% of the cost of façade work. In addition, 100% of the cost of infrastructure improvements (sidewalks, lanterns, and street trees) will be paid for.
NKCDC’s Elm Street Program works with homeowners through a holistic approach to community organizing, including housing counseling, cleaning & greening, and addressing issues of sustainability. Two different locations (Huntingdon Street and Somerset Street, both between Kensington Avenue and Frankford Avenue) have been targeted for improvements. Dozens of properties have received funding for repairs, including replacement windows, doors, sidewalks, street lanterns, and porch repair.

This program is offered through the Pennsylvania Elm Street Program, which is being implemented through the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) and the city’s Office of Housing and Community Development (OHCD). Additional assistance has been made possible through NeighborWorks America and the Energy Coordinating Agency. For more information regarding the Elm Street Program, please contact Kevin Musselman at 215-427-0350 x 126 or kmusselman@nkcdc.org.
