NKCDC and Norris Square Neighborhood Project partnered in designing benches for residents catching the number “5” and “54” SEPTA buses at Frankford & Somerset. Nine students designed and painted the benches, which were previously located further south on Frankford Avenue but are being replaced for the current PennDOT streetscape improvements.









The new designs on the benches are the students’ interpretation of “Living Sustainably”, with green themes encouraging neighbors to reduce, reuse, and recycle. Each group designed and hand painted each bench. For more information on this project, please contact Jennifer Brodie at jbrodie@nkcdc.org.
