Neighborhood Advisory Committee

The Neighborhood Advisory Committee is the community organizing arm of the CDC. Through interaction with city and state governments, we give voice to resident concerns on topics such as overgrown lots and street sink-holes.

The primary responsibility of NAC members is to work as ambassadors between NKCDC and the community. This includes providing NKCDC with information on neighborhood and community conditions, needs, and problems. With this information, members of the NAC help to formulate programs to address these issues.

In addition to participating in monthly meetings and recruiting community residents to participate in these programs, members of the NAC also relay information about the CDC to the community. NAC members also have the opportunity to participate in national leadership trainings through Neighborworks America, a neighborhood redevelopment organization created by the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Our ongoing efforts to grow community and improve the quality of life have resulted in the organizational support of local civic associations, and the support of the Black, Coyle and McBride Playground (also known as Pop's Playground). With the assistance of NKCDC, the neighbors surrounding the playground have formed the Friends of Pops, and have successfully revitalized and rededicated this playground for the community at large.

The NAC also monitors zoning cases and create opportunity for dialogue between the applicants and impacted residents.
