NKCDC's Farm to Families Site Coming to an End

After more than 10 years, New Kensington Community Development Corporation (NKCDC) and the St. Christopher's Foundation for Children will no longer be offering the Farm to Families program in the Riverwards. Our weekly distribution of wholesome affordable produce boxes had many loyal customers from the early days in Fishtown to the more recent move to Orinoka Civic House. We would like to sincerely thank St. Christopher's for the many years of partnership and our customers for their interest in and commitment to healthy eating.

Weekly distribution of Farm to Families produce boxes at Orinoka Civic House will continue through the end of July with the last pick-up on Thursday, July 26th.

As a way to thank you for your years with us, we would like to offer a free box for the first 25 active Farm to Families customers that order with us this month. Please order in person or via our voice mailbox at 215-427-0350 x110.

We are saddened to say goodbye to this valuable resource and partnership, but NKCDC remains dedicated to improving access to fresh, affordable produce in Kensington. In the coming months, we will explore new ideas for bringing fresh food to the neighborhood.

We encourage customers to continue participating in Farm to Families through their next closest site at St Christopher's Hospital for Children, 3601 A Street. Anyone interested can contact Yael at St. Christopher's at 267-838-0882.

For others, here are additional organic food providers in the nearby area, some of which offer work and/or SNAP shares.
