Energy Crisis

NKCDC has been an energy and conservation advocate in the community for the past 25 years.  Currently an Energy Center through the Energy Coordinating Agency, NKCDC offers assistance with various housing energy grants such as LIHEAP (Low-Income Heating Assistance Program), CRISIS, and UESF programs for low to moderate income households. NKCDC educates clients on the need to conserve energy to reduce utility costs and help protect the environment. As part of the Sustainable 19125 initiative NKCDC hosts annual Energy & Housing Fairs at local schools and community centers.

NKCDC has partnered with the Energy Coordinating Agency to offer free weatherization assistance to homeowners. In addition to conducting a thorough energy audit of the home, this program also educates the homeowner on how to make cost-efficient changes to help lower energy costs. Some homeowners may also qualify for free repairs, including new energy-efficient doors and windows. NKCDC educates the community about the benefits of purchasing energy-efficient appliances and solar products to reduce cost and usage. NKCDC also provides weatherization workshops, where neighbors can learn simple steps to help lower their energy bills.

NKCDC advocates and testifies to the federal, state and city government on behalf of our clients the need for continual conservation/ education programs to help change the way we use energy in today households.

If you have a need for our assistance with any of the programs we offer, please call our office at 215-427-0350 and ask to speak to an energy counselor.
