Part-Time Grant Writer (Temporary)

Our innovative, community-based work relies on a diverse and layered network of support to ensure its sustainability. In this role, you would be a key part of the team cultivating and nurturing these resources while the Director of Resource Development is out on maternity leave. Grant-writing and contract management will be central to your work, with space to provide sponsorship solicitation support to annual fundraising events.

Reports to:
Acting Resource Development and Communications Director


  • Provide grant writing, contract management, and specialized development functions for NKCDC.
  • Work with program staff and leadership to regularly identify, review, and research any opportunities which may support NKCDC work and align with existing programming and mission
  • Coordinate and track grant proposals and responses to RFP's; work with various departments to collect all relevant supporting information
  • Spearhead grant and contract management, from initial meetings to ensuring timely reporting on deliverables and close-out
  • Facilitate cross-department communication where needed to support effective grant/contract management
  • Maintain existing relationships with funders
  • Support individual, corporate and institutional giving, participate in sponsorship development for annual Philadelphia Federal Credit Union Kensington Derby and Arts Festival

  • Professional manner and good interpersonal skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to communicate with a broad range of constituents and supporters.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, prioritize work, take initiative, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines. Demonstrated flexibility in managing time-sensitive tasks and projects.
  • Strong track record of success in grant writing and management required, preferably for organizations with annual budget greater than $1MM.
  • Experience with government/ foundation grant proposals and government contract management desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in various computer and internet programs including Microsoft Office Suite, CRM systems, and grant management systems

This is a part-time, temporary independent contractor position, does not include benefits and will get a 1099 at the end of the year. The contractor will invoice for hours worked on a biweekly or monthly basis. The expectation is 20-25 hours per week over the course of 6 months between December 2018 and May 2019. The total compensation for this contract is not to exceed $30,000.
