Human Resources Generalist

At New Kensington Community Development Corporation (NKCDC), we believe that neighborhood development can and should benefit all residents. NKCDC provides free housing counseling to anyone in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and offers many additional resources to residents and businesses in the Kensington, Fishtown, and Port Richmond neighborhoods.

Function

Ensure the HR department's operations will be running smoothly and effectively to deliver maximum value to the organization as a whole.

Reports to

Finance Director

Responsibilities

  • Administer compensation and benefit plans
  • Assist in talent acquisition and recruitment processes
  • Conduct employee onboarding and help organize training & development initiatives
  • Provide support to employees in various HR-related topics such as leaves and compensation and resolve any issues that may arise
  • Promote HR programs including REDI and Healing Centered Initiatives to create an efficient and conflict-free workplace
  • Assist in development and implementation of human resource policies
  • Undertake tasks around performance management
  • Gather and analyze data with useful HR metrics, like time to hire and employee turnover rates
  • Organize annual employee performance reviews
  • Maintain employee files and records in electronic and paper form
  • Ensure compliance with labor regulations
  • Policy development and documentation
  • Employee relationship management
  • Committee facilitation
  • Company-employee communication
  • Additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as an HR Generalist
  • Understanding of general human resources policies and procedures
  • Good knowledge of employment/labor laws
  • Outstanding knowledge of MS Office
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Extremely organized with great attention to detail
  • Aptitude in problem-solving
  • Desire to work as a team with a results driven approach
  • BSc/BA in Business administration or relevant field
  • Additional HR training will be a plus
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize work, take initiative, manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Able to work as a team player with a diverse work staff and foster a positive working environment.
  • Knowledge of QuickBooks Payroll software is beneficial
  • Ability to work with advanced Microsoft Excel spreadsheet and formulas
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and flexibility.

Compensation

Competitive salary with excellent benefits including HMO health plan, long- and short-term disability insurance, life insurance, paid vacation and 403 (b) retirement plan. Salary for this position will be
$27 hourly, 20 hours a week.
